2014 marked the 20th anniversary of the Intergeo exhibition and
conference. InterGeo was this year held in the capital of Germany, Berlin.
Again this year FIG was present at the exhibition with a stand. FIG Vice
President Rudolf Staiger attended the exhibition and conference. Working
Week 2015 Local Organising Committee was represented by President Angel
Yanakiev and Co-conference Director Zlatan Zlatanov.
More than 17.000 visited the exhibition, which is a ten percent increase
from last year. There was a large international representation; around 35%
were from outside Germany.
The exhibition was as always remarkable, 5 large halls filled with the
latest news within Geoinformation. In general there was special focus on
products and applications in a digital world. Applications on and around
Geoinformation are socially relevant areas for the future.
The FIG stand offered various information and about Bulgaria, Sofia, and
of course also about the FIG Working Week 2015. Hopefully many were inspired
to attend the Working Week 2015 either as participant or exhibitor/sponsor.
The Working Week takes place in the historical and very interesting Sofia,
17-21 May 2015. More information at www.fig.net/fig2015
The FIG representatives had the chance to talk with many visitors, both
those who play an active role within FIG and also many who through the
exhibition got acquainted with FIG and the work FIG is undertaking
throughout the world. There was especially interest from Brazil, both from
Association and University, and FIG appreciates this attention. Last year
MundoGeo became Corporate Member of FIG. InterGeo is also giving FIG the
opportunity to meet some of the faithful corporate members and to make new
acquaintances with potentially new corporate members.

FIG Young Surveyors organized the 2nd FIG Young Surveyors European
Meeting on 7 October 2014, taking place at the Technical University Berlin.
Around 150 Young Surveyors attended the well organized and inspiring

full of surveying students coming form Denmark to attend the meeting and
InterGeo. All participants at the Young Surveyors meeting also received a
free ticket for the exhibition at Intergeo on 8 October 2014. At the opening FIG Vice President Rudolf Staiger greeted all participants
stressing that the surveying profession needs the next generation. He
encouraged all participants to use the opportunity to meet in an
International environment in spite of “easier” communication channels
through the internet. He encouraged all to be active in their national
associations and also internationally through FIG. The newly elected
President of CLGE, Maurice Barbieri from Switzerland also gave an opening
address and finally FIG Foundation President John Hohol greeted all
participants. FIG Foundation works closely with Young Surveyors knowing that
the Young Surveyors are representing the future. In the short presentation
of FIG by John Hohol he remarked that the average age of a surveyor world
