Back at Intergeo
18-20 October 2022, Essen, Germany
It was a pleasure for FIG to be back at Intergeo with a stand in
Essen, Germany. During the previous two years FIG has been represented with a virtual stand,
but in 2022 Intergeo opened its doors in Essen with an exhibtion that
was close to the size of previous years. it was clear to see that all
enjoyed being back in person. Some exhibitors were back with smaller
stands than usual, but the fact that it was possible to meet was
reassuring.
Three exhibit halls were buzzing with excited exhibitors and
visitors. Around 14,000 visitors had found their way to the fair in
Essen, and FIG representatives had interesting talks with both seasoned
and young surveyers, school kids who were hopefully inspired by this
vibrant profession and the international perspective, as well as both German
and International company representatives.
For the first time ever, FIG
was located at a stand together with other associations in the so-called
"Verbändepark" (Park of organisations) housing several German associations including DVW. CLGE
was represented with a stand, too. It was a joy for FIG to be part of this
bigger community.
The local organisers representing FIG Working Weeks 2023 and 2024
were on the spot. Our own Congress 2022 in Warsaw, Poland showed that we
are getting back to a situation where all are longing for and
appreciating meeting in person, and the
importance of being able to meet and greet was clear. There is a big difference
and the face-to-face meetings and talks should not be under-estimated.

FIG Working Week 2024 was also represented and active spreading out
the word to remember to incorporate budget for exhibition space or
attendance in Accra, Ghana in 2024.
There were many visitors to the FIG stand. Some already knew FIG in
advance and we enjoyed the reunification, and there were also many who did not know about
FIG came by for a chat and information.
FIG President Rudolf Staiger was busy during the three exhibition
days meeting with both international and German participants and
exhibitors. On Thursday 20 October DVW kindly hosted a hand over session
- read more here (link).
Rudolf Staiger was interviewed for Intergeo TV, too, talking about
his time as President of FIG and his experiences.
