Global Surveyors' Day

Global Surveyors’ Day is a way to globally recognize the
ground-breakers, pioneers, individuals and the industry that has shaped
our history and continues to be the foundation of our communities.
How will you be celebrating the Global Surveyors' Day?
It is the hope that this day is being celebrated around the world. It
can be celebrated in many different ways, and it is up to the national
surveyors to find their best way to celebrate the day.
FIG wishes all the best for all these events and activities, hoping
that this will help emphasise the many contributions by surveyors and
the surveying profession in all aspects of life.

Global Surveyor's Day Celebration in Mongolia
The celebration of GLOBAL SURVEYORS' DAY took place on 21
March 2022 in Ulaanbaatar city, Mongolia to highlight,
disseminate, and promote the surveying profession's importance
and work in society. In this context, the Mongolian Association
of Geodesy, Photogrammetry and Cartography (MAGPC) and Alumni
(Class of 2012, Geodesy) at Mongolian University of Science and
Technology (MUST) have organized a hybrid meeting including
public and private sector representatives, scholars, and young
surveyors. During this meeting, participants have freely
discussed the current and future outlook of the legal
environment and activities of surveying, up-to-date state and
future trends of the training and research in Mongolian
surveying education. Furthermore, one of the essential
highlights that happenned during the meeting was that older
generations shared their experience and gave treasured advice
for younger generations to encourage and fire up their
professional passion.

5th Global Surveyor's Day Celebrated in Nepal
A program was jointly organized by Nepal Institution of Chartered
Surveyors (NICS) and Survey Department in the Survey Department in
Kathmandu, Nepal on 21st March 2022 on the occasion of ‘5th Global
Surveyors Day’. The program was chaired by Punya Prasad Oli, President
of NICS. Ram Prasad Thapaliya, Secretary, Ministry Land Management,
Cooperatives and Poverty Alleviation was the Chief Guest of ceremony.
Nagendra Jha, former Director General of Survey Department, delivered
welcome speech, followed by inauguration from chief guest. Tanka Prasad
Dahal, Director of Survey Department presented lecture note on current
status of LiDAR survey in Nepal. During the occasion, honour was offered
to Buddhi Narayan Shrestha for remarkable contributation in field of
surveying and geomatics. PhD holders Dr. Subash Ghimire and Dr. Pradeep
Sapkota Upadhyay were also felicitated in the occasion.
Modern surveying instruments utilized in Sagamatha Height Measurement
Project were displayed in exhibition. Speakers highlighted the need of
survey profession licensing, participation in global forum and knowledge
sharing through books, articles for continuous professional development
and ethical conducts. The program was concluded with closing remarks by
chair of ceremony, Punya Prasad Oli.
Modern GNSS, gravimeter, robotic Total Station etc used in Mt Sagamatha
Survey were also displayed. Chief guest expressed his satisfaction to
attend to the Day and wish surveyor should provide services more
ethically and efficiently in future.

The Lagos state chapter of the Young surveyors networks has ceated an
awareness video to educate the public more about the roles and
importance of surveyors.

The Global Surveyors Day
organised by NSPS takes place at three different times during the day
