FIG Council invites member associations to consider nominations for Chair Elect for each of the 10 FIG Commissions for the term 2025-26 with the aim to become Chair for the term 2027-2030.

The FIG Engagement Committee is ready to assist if you have any questions or queries. Read more below.

Deadline for the submission of nominations is: 20 December 2024 at 12:00 PM CET

The current Commission chairs 2023-2026. Following the statutes, this election should have taken place in 2024, however the General Assembly 2024, under the guidance of FIG Council, chose to postpone this election until 2025.

Nominations must be submitted by the Member Association and the designated application form must be used. The nominations will be published in the General Assembly agenda that will be sent to members prior to the General Assembly.

The General Assembly will take place during the FIG Working Week in Brisbane Australia (onsite only).  We do hope that many members can be represented. At the first General Assembly session on 6 April all candidates will be given time to present themselves. Election will take place online before the second session on 10 April where the result will be ready. All chairs elects are asked to be available in the early afternoon on 10 April for a short introductory Commission meeting.

Nominations should be submitted to FIG Director Louise Friis-Hansen, louise.friis-hansen@fig.net the latest on: 20 December 2024 at 12:00 PM CET

Engagement Committee

Are you in doubt, or do you have questions?
Whether you are a potential candidate or a potential nominating association you can get help.

The Engagement Committee (EC) was established in 2021 for a trial period of time until 2025 with the tasks to:

  • foster and encourage individuals’ engagement to stand for senior officer levels in FIG, above all to be an open process to encourage people to come forward.
  • work closely with Council; yet maintain independence
  • ensure that people are not discouraged or hesitating to contact and, or to have any fear about coming forward.

It is important to note that the Engagement Committee is not a nomination committee and they do not do any vetting. Their main purpose is to encourage potential candidates and their national member associations and are available for questions and queries. Each member of the committe has long experience with various positions in FIG.

FIG Member Associations and intested potential candidates are welcome to contact one or more of the committee members, or to contact FIG Director Louise Friis-Hansen.
