The representatives from ICEC and FIG discussed the MoU that both
parties value and ICEC expressed their willingness to engage more
actively into FIG Commission 10 on Construction Economics and Management
and to continue the cooperation under the MoU.
The representatives from ICEC explained their structure and their
many successful undertakings around the world.
Diane Dumashie was pleased to hear the interest and involvement from
ICEC strengthening FIG Commission 10 with further quantity surveyors and
relevant topics. This is the right time because a new term of officers
has just begun and currently all FIG Commission and Network Chairs are
working on their Work Plans for this term 2023-2026.
New FIG Commission 10 Chair from Nigeria
Diane Dumashie explained that a new chair of FIG Commission 10 has
been appointed by FIG Council as, originally, it turned out that the
candidate for this commission had to withdraw. After fruitful
discussions with the President from Nigerian Institution of Quantity
Surveyors, they suggested Mrs Mercy Iyortyer as new
chair of the commission, which was approved by FIG Council.
Being the start of a new term there will be good opportunity to
engage in working groups under commission 10 and also have influence on
the content of the Working Groups.
FIG Working Week 2024
For the FIG Working Week 2024 there will also be good opportunity for
special activities for Quantity Surveyors in cooperation with the active
representatives from ICEC. This can be in the form of an exciting and
relevant pre-event that can attract attendees both from Africa and from
the rest the world, and also special sessions during the three
conference days of the FIG Working Week 2024 on 20-22 May 2024.
FIG is pleased that the MoU is being re-vitalised between FIG and
ICEC and Diane Dumashie thanked the representatives from ICEC for their
good and relevant initiative and that that led by Commission chair Mercy
Iyortyer we can all together ensure a strong and growing FIG Commission
10.
