| New records in participation to Intergeo 2005Düsseldorf, Germany 4-6 October 2005This year's Intergeo under theme "Grenzen ûberschreiten"
was organised at the Congress and Messe Center in Düsseldorf, Germany 4-6
October. The exhibition was visited by over 16,000 professionals (about 15
per cent outside Germany). The exhibition space was about 25,000 square
metres and included more than 500 exhibitors from 24 countries. All figures
new records for Intergeo. The annual conference of DVW attracted about 1,600
delegates which is the best figure during the last few years. The conference
was organised jointly with the Geodetic Week (Geodätische Woche). At the opening ceremony Mr. Hagen Graeff, President of
the German DVW gave the first DVW Annual Reward to Mr. Willi Zimmermann
from GTZ for his great achievements in surveying in Germany and especially
internationally. The keynote presentation at the opening ceremony was given
	by Prof. Dr. Dr. h.c.
Gert Kaiser, President of the Wissenshaftscentrums NRW. At the conference programme there was the traditional FIG
Forum, which topic was this year Tsunami - Surveyors Contributions in Risk
Prevention. This special session attracted about 100 participants.
Presentations were made by Adam Kerr on behalf of FIG Commission 4 on
topic "Hydrography and Disaster Management - The Role of Hydrography in
the Management of Marine Disasters". The other two presentation in this
session were presented by Prof. Markus Rothacher and Dr. Jörg-Peter Schmitter who described the German contribution on the
Tsunami catastrophe and rebuilding Sri Lanka after the catastrophe. FIG attended the Intergeo 2006 - a longer tradition by now -
also in the exhibition at the DVW booth distributing information about the
Federation and FIG future events, especially about the FIG Congress 2006,
which will take place 8-13 October 2006 - immediately after the famous
Oktoberfest. Next year's  Intergeo will take place 10-12 October
2006. FIG also organised a meeting for its corporate members to discuss the
partnership between the corporate members and FIG. Pictures from Intergeo 2005:
