FIG at Intergeo

Every third year, Intergeo is organised in the capital of
Germany, Berlin. Intergeo consists of both a large trade fair
and a conference. This year there were around 580 exhibitors
from 37 countries and more than 1,400 conference delegates which
makes Intergeo the leading international trade fair for geodesy,
geoinformation and land management. For the first time, the
trade fair and conference attracted more than 18,000 visitors
from over 100 countries.
Like in previous years FIG was well represented.

FIG had a stand in the trade fair where friends of FIG met for a nice
talk and others came by to learn more about FIG and FIG activities. FIG President Potsiou
attended the trade fair together with a delegation from Greece. FIG Vice
President Rudolf Staiger also participated as well as several other FIG
representatives.
FIG Congress 2018 was in focus at the FIG stand. Material about the
exhibition was handed out and also potential participants to the
Congress were interested to hear more about the congress. Several
members of the Local Organising Committee from Turkey found their way to
Berlin together with Co-congress Director and FIG Vice President Orhan
Ercan. The Turkish delegation had meetings with several companies in
order to promote the Congress that takes place 6-11 May 2018 in
Istanbul, Turkey. There was a clear interest to the Congress. FIG also
had meetings with several FIG Corporate Members, which was a good
occasion.
The trade fair was as usual impressive with product and solutions
portfolios of the exhibitors that covered the entire process chain from
data capture and analysis through to the presentation and visualisation
of results. Digitalisation was also a recurrent theme at the conference.
FIG Commission 5 organised a special FIG Commission 5 Session "Trends on
GNSS" with presentations by Dan Roman, Suelynn Choy and Li Zhang. Chair
of FIG Commission 5 Volker Schwieger chaired the session.
The local organising committee for FIG Congress 2018 had
