Dear Colleague,
Welcome to the September newsletter which showcases that this has been a busy time, and there are many activities ahead of us, too. Many events are taking place - hereunder the 14th session of the UN-GGIM which FIG President Diane Dumashie attended, and upcoming events such as our own Regional Conference in Nepal concentrating on disaster and climate issues, the 1st st African Woman Land Professional Associations Conference and the main event for 2025 - the FIG Working Week which is combined with the Australian national event Locate. It is going to be exciting to bring International and Australian surveyors and geospatial experts together in Brisbane. FIG Foundation has opened submission of application for Young Surveyors to attend in Brisbane in April 2025. Further, a preparation meeting was held in Stavanger Norway to prepare for FIG Working Week 2027, and for a special workshop with the city on legacy possibilities. That will be exciting!! In this newsletter you can meet our new corporate member Mena3D, too. Read on...

FIG and Geospatial Council of Australia have the honour to invite you to the FIG Working Week 2025 being held from 6-10 April 2025 at the Brisbane Convention & Exhibition Centre (BCEC), Australia.
FIG’s agenda for 2023 to 2026 is driven by the imperative for a sustainable profession that delivers services sustainably, addresses the global sustainable development agenda, and acts decisively on the climate agenda. The overall theme for the Working Wek 2025 is: Collaboration, Innovation and Resilience: Championing a Digital Generation
In recent years, several transformative forces have converged, compelling our profession to redefine how we create, deliver, and communicate value within the context of sustainability. Awareness of trends and megatrends fosters preparedness and is the first step towards resilience; however, the next and immediate step in this decade demands action. The digital age will propel us forward, underscoring the urgency to act now.
The theme of the FIG Working Week 2025 is to Champion what is unquestionably a Digital Generation. But for surveyors to remain relevant, and maintain our international impact while providing services not only to our members but also our global partners we will need to be collaborative, innovative and our actions be sustainable in the face of the climate imperative. Sessions will include topics related to Climate Resilience, Economic Impact of Geospatial Technologies and Social Impact.
Prepare for your abstract. The call for papers includes both peer review
papers and regular abstracts. The submission will open soon.
