International Federation of Surveyors
Fédération Internationale des Géomètres
Internationale Vereinigung der Vermessungsingenieure
Dear Colleague,
The whole world is currently gathering in Paris, France for the Olympics,
a testament to the power of international cooperation and networking. Whether
on the grand stage of the Olympics or at specialized gatherings like the FIG Working Week
- which in 2024 saw representation from 84
countries in Accra, Ghana - cross-boarder collaboration is essential.
Regional
meetings play a crucial role in fostering exchange, learning, and cooperation.
The FIG Regional Conference will be held in Nepal, welcoming participants
from across Asia and beyond. The conference will focus on two vital themes: Climate Responsive Land Governance and Disaster Resilience,
where surveyors have a central role. These topics resonate strongly,
especially considering the Olympic Opening Ceremony was nearly washed away
by heavy rain, and athletes now compete in extreme heat.
A FIG Young Surveyors Asia
meeting will be held in conjunction with the conference. Young
Surveyors from Europe will meet in Romania for their 7th European meeting.
To support these events, the FIG Foundation is offering grants to to help
young surveyors attend.
The FIG President was also invited to China for a remarkable event and
meetings.
As the Olympics showcase incredible athletic feats, FIG remains dedicated to
fostering global network opportunities for surveyors worldwide, ensuring
progress and collaboration in our field...
The General Assembly took place on 19 and 23 May 2024 as part of the FIG Working Week 2024 with 60 member associations represented and around 250 delegates. Read the minutes and report including the decisions and election results and see pictures.
