International Federation of Surveyors
Fédération Internationale des Géomètres
Internationale Vereinigung der Vermessungsingenieure
Dear Colleague,
First of all, Happy New Year and the very best wishes for a prosperous
2024. We do hope that you have started 2024 in the very best way. FIG has -
more or less.
A necessary change and upgrade of the FIG web server has caused some
challenges (and are still causing). Updates made after 12 December
(membership updates, registrations for the Working Week etc) may have been
lost - but not all.
We would please ask you to whitelist emails coming from "@fig.net" - you
might be able to do it yourself or please ask your IT
department for help. Otherwise mails from us might end in a spam filter or are
completely rejected...
These difficulties have led us to postpone the registration and submission
of paper for authors for the FIG Working Week 2024 to 29 January.
For all other participants the deadline for Early Bird Registration is still
19 February 2024.
We do hope to see you there.
Election for two new Vice Presidents will be held at the General Assembly in
Accra in 2024 (note the nomination deadline 11 January 2024), however FIG
Council has decided to postpone the election of Commission Chairs Elects
until 2025 after having consulted the current Commission Chairs.
Read more about this, the first High-Level meeting of African Presidents,
get to know UN-GGCE, and
many other things in this newsletter that concludes a year filled with
activties and undertakings during this first year of the current term
of leadership.
The announced election for Vice Presidents continues as planned.
However, the election of Chairs Elects will be held in 2025 instead
of 2024 - read more about this Council decision |

Deadline for submission of full paper and registration for authors was originally set at 8 January 2024. However, due to challenges with our new web server which has caused difficulties to register the deadline has been postponed to 29 January 2024.
All Chairs are currently working on the technical programme in order to present inspiring and relevant sessions. For that reason it will be good to know if you have submitted an abstract, however will not be able to attend. The programme will be packed with a pecial poster session, and all posters will be displayed throughout the Working Week in the plenary hall, workshop session, technical sessions, sessions with partners and many other activities during the three conference days 20-22 May 2023.
The Working Week will take place at La Palm Royal Beach Hotel. It overlooks the Atlantic Ocean and on the premises there are both conference facilities, accommodation, large green areas that will be used by the conference, taking advantage of the good Africa weather.
