Professional CareerThomas Gollwitzer, born in Regensburg in 1958, studies in Geodesy and Surveying from 1978 to 1984 at the Technische Universität München, received degree: Dipl.-Ing. (Univ.). After two years preparatory service as civil servant, he started his career at the Bavarian Rural Development Service in 1986, first in Munich and then from 1989 to 1994 in Regensburg. As a Senior Officer he was leading Land Consolidation measures and Village Renewal measures. During that period he became an expert on public planning processes (bottom-up) in rural development projects and Agenda 21 activities. He was invited as a Trainer to the School for Land Consolidation and Village Renewal, SDL Abteil Plankstetten. In 1994 he moved to the Bavarian Ministry for Food, Agriculture and Forestry. First as an Assistant to Prof. Dr. Holger Magel (Head of the Department for Rural Development). Then as Personal Assistant of the Vice Minister and from 1995 to 1999 as Chief of Staff of the Bavarian Vice Minister for Food, Agriculture and Forestry. In 1999 he returned to the Rural Development Service, Regensburg as Head of the Department of Land Consolidation and Village Renewal. Since 2000 he has been the Vice President of the Rural Development Service, Regensburg.
