Promoting FIG in Latin AmericaThe 8th FIG Regional Conference 2012 was held in Montevideo, Uruguay. Two dedicated sessions were held, hosted jointly by the FIG Young Surveyors Network and the UN-HABITAT Global Land Tools Network on "Youth Responsiveness in the Land Sector". The Regional Conference was a huge success and a lot of Young Surveyors learned about the Network but there is still a lot to do in this region. We would like to be better represented and connected to FIG member associations in South America as well as we would like to enlarge the representation of South American Young Surveyors in our Network The FIG Foundation has the later years supported Ms. Melissa Robert, a young surveyors from Uruguay. The Foundation has supported her efficient attendance at various conferences in which she has promoted and informed about FIG and FIG Young Surveyors. FIG and FIG Foundation extend a special thanks to Ms Melissa Roberts for her work on the promotion of FIG in the Latin American area.
