The
International Federation of Surveyors (FIG) is a federation of national associations and is
the only international body that represents all surveying disciplines. It is a
UN-recognised non government organisation (NGO) and its aim is to ensure that
the disciplines of surveying and all who practice them meet the needs of the
markets and communities that they serve. It realises its aim by promoting the
practice of the profession and encouraging the development of professional
standards.
FIG’s
technical work is led by commissions. Commission 7 deals with Cadastre
and Land Management and is chaired by Paul Munro-Faure (UK).
The
aim of Working Group 3 on Land Markets inside Commission 7 is to
collect information about land markets from different countries with different
economical and political systems. The Working Group will work out possible
strategies and draft recommended steps to improve functions of land markets,
encouraging land consolidation and land reforms if necessary. The Working Group
is chaired by András Ossko (Hungary).
This
symposium will give information about the current situation of land markets in
different regions of the world and an overview about the work of this FIG
Commission 7 Working Group.
