Auditorium Parco della Musica
The Musica per Roma Foundation was created in 2004 and it was the
first significant transformation of a joint-stock company into a
foundation under the reform of the new corporate law. The founding
members are the City of Rome, the Chamber of Commerce, the Province of
Rome and the Lazio Region.
Ever since its inauguration in 2002 the Auditorium has become a
leading cultural scene for the city of Rome and the entire Italy, a
resounding success in terms of the quality of its programmes and the
consistently high audience turnout. Every year over one million people,
visit the complex. The Foundation finances itself 65 per cent of its
overall budget. It is a multi-functional arts complex, and the home of
the famous Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia. The auditorium offers
concerts of symphonic and chamber music, jazz, pop, rock and world music
as well as film premieres, stage plays, art exhibits and literary
performances.
Parco della Musica is designed by famous architect Renzo Piano
as a “cultural factory”. The construction started in 1995 and opened in
2002 There are three Music Halls belonging to the same architectural
family. They are immersed in the large park with trees. The instrument
museum that belongs to the auditorium is open for the visitors during
the opening reception. The opening and the concert will be held at the
main hall dedicated the great composer and conductor Giuseppe Sinopoli.
The lay-out of the hall reflects the so-called “music box” design to
guarantee the best acoustics and thus engage the whole audience
perfectly. The hall walls are covered with cherry-wood panels and
traditional Ancient Rome style brick as a homage to the traditional
architecture of the Capital City.
There is an archaeological museum in the complex. Important mural
remains from an ancient era were uncovered during the preliminary
excavation stages of the area reserved for the new Auditorium. The
excavation revealed a building with an extension larger than 2.000
square metres. The museum can be visited during the opening reception.

Orchestra conducted by maestro Massimiliano Carlini. The
programme will consist of music from Astor Piazzolla and Nino
